The adopted requirements for all-electric equipment and appliances in new buildings, "New Provisions for All-Electric Buildings", Sections 4.509 and 5.509 of the 2022 VCBC will no longer be enforced. This is in keeping with the decision of the Ninth District Court in California Restaurant Association v. City of Berkeley. The County will now allow the use of natural gas appliances and equipment when desired by the builder for active construction projects.
