The Board of Supervisors approved an update to the Saticoy Area Plan on September 22, 2015. This was the first comprehensive revision to the Saticoy Area Plan in more than two decades. To directly access the Saticoy Area Plan, click here!

Since adoption, Planning staff has been working on implementing programs identified within the Plan. A summary of what has been achieved since adoption is listed below.

2019:

  • Planning Staff assisted the Ventura County Public Works Transportation Department and Ventura County Transportation Commission to receive an Active Transportation Planning grant from the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) for the Saticoy area which would focus on future mobility connections within Saticoy and connections to the Cities of Ventura and Oxnard.

2018:

  • The Saticoy Southern Pacific Railroad Depot is nominated for placement on the National Register of Historic Places. This nomination was approved by the State Historical Resources Commission on May 17, 2018 (OMB No. 10240018). (Program LU-P4(3))

  • An inter-agency action committee is developed within the County which includes staff from the County CEO’s office, District 1 office, the Planning Division, and the Public Works Agency Real Estate Services Division. The intent of this action committee is to discuss rehabilitation programs for the Saticoy Train Depot. In December 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved the expenditure of funds which were used to install security equipment and clean up the Train Depot site. (Program LU-P4(2))

2017:

  • Census Tract 13.02 which includes the Saticoy area is designated as an Opportunity Zone by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Opportunity Zones incentive is a new community investment tool established by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to encourage long-term investments in low-income urban and rural communities nationwide.

2016:

  • Ventura Water (City of Ventura) approves a Net Zero Policy, which is available to developers in Saticoy, and allows projects to offset new or increased water demand through one or more compliance options, including payment of a fee. This fee will allow developers to avail to the larger water supply required to support the Area Plan buildout. (Program PF-P1)

2015:

  • The comprehensive update to the Saticoy Area Plan is unanimously approved by the County Board of Supervisors on September 22, 2015.

  • The Saticoy Library officially inaugurates in a new location in the Town Center in Old Town Saticoy on September 26, 2015. Check the new upgraded facility and its many amenities at this link.

  • A new Gold Coast Transit Route (#22) is implemented along Wells Road that provides service between Wells Center/Saticoy and St. Johns Hospital/Nyeland Acres in Oxnard. This is implemented as a grant funded, 3-year demonstration route – the need of which was necessitated by the Saticoy Area Plan. (Program MOB-P11).

Update: This route was suspended in late 2019 due to lack of adequate development, and related ridership along the route
