The Board of Supervisors directed Planning Division staff to craft a new “Mobilehome Park” overlay zone for existing mobile home parks in the unincorporated County. A study of the potential for an overlay zone was completed, and draft ordinance language is now being reviewed. There would be two overlay zones: one would apply to mobilehome parks in general and the other would apply specifically to senior mobilehome parks. These overlay zones would preserve their continued use as mobilehome parks, and for those parks predominantly occupied by seniors, it would maintain the availability of those parks for seniors.

The proposed ordinances were presented to the Ventura County Planning Commission on August 29, 2019. The hearing documents and recording are available here (click “Agenda” at the top of the page). The Planning Commission voted 5-0 to recommend that the Board of Supervisors adopt the proposed ordinances. The date for the Board of Supervisors hearing has tentatively been set as December 10, 2019. The public is invited to attend and provide comments. Updates will be posted to this webpage as they become available.
