You've come to the right place to find out more about how you can have a voice in shaping the quality of life in Ventura County. There are many different ways to get involved in issues, projects, and programs that impact your community and the unincorporated County as a whole.
Participate in Community Workshops:
From time to time, the Planning Division hosts interactive workshops to both inform and receive input from the public on topics ranging from General Plan Updates, Area Plan amendments, and zoning ordinance amendments, among others. All upcoming community workshops will be listed below.
The County of Ventura is currently drafting amendments to the Local Coastal Program, which includes the Coastal Area Plan and Coastal Zoning Ordinance. Due to the large number of topic areas, three sets of public outreach meetings are scheduled. The first set of topic areas were discussed at public outreach meetings held on March 20 and 26 and included archaeological and paleontological resources, film permitting, parking and loading regulations, and signs.
The next set of public outreach meetings will take place on November 2 and November 4, 2015 and will cover the topic of tree protection and water-efficient landscaping. In spring 2016, public outreach meetings will be held to discuss environmentally sensitive habitat areas (ESHA), coastal recreation and access, and wireless telecommunication facilities.
